Are Continental franchised dealers really interested in selling used cars?

That’s one question – among others – that our guest speaker Christophe Louvard, CEO of Autobiz (http://pro.autobiz.fr/) asked during his presentation in our used car workshop, held at our ICDP of in Frankfurt on 5th December 2012.  The ‘Webuyanycar’ type of service implemented recently developed by Autobiz enables dealers to get a gross margin of +3,000 euros per car, and there are still difficulties to convince dealers to adopt such a system for their sourcing…

The used car workshop set by ICDP offered the possibility of key managers of the different types of companies directly or indirectly involved in the used car business – dealers, car manufacturers, service providers – to exchange their views on the evolution of this activity. Based on the ICDP research results, a series of questions where actively debated, such as “Can the British model on used cars be exported on the Continent ?”.  The answer was obviously not a clear yes or no, Dutch participants claiming that the skills of used car traders in the Netherlands are also worth to look at! An update of a case study on SuperNova, an Italian used car superstore was also presented. Due to its advanced processes in stock procurement and management, CRM and marketing, this entity managed to raise its profits over the past 3 years, despite the crisis in automotive distribution in Italy…
