Education & training

Education and training

This initiative aims to broaden the access and use of the extensive archive of ICDP experience and research material, and to enhance the skills of those taking on roles in key automotive distribution functions, by cascading insight, skills and learning into teaching. We are developing a number of channels; so far we have delivered short courses open to all and in-house courses for an ICDP member. We will continue to expand and build on this starting point, and are currently investigating the potential for using online learning to deliver to a wider audience.

Specialist automotive strategy courses. Through a mixture of interactive learning, tasks and simulation, the courses deliver core understanding and skills in specific areas, generating both valuable resources for business change and career progression for individuals. Managers attending the short courses will benefit from a closed environment and a focus on tangible and applied aspects of specific topics.

Future developments. We are planning to deliver short courses with partners in various locations as demand arises, including major growth markets outside Europe. We are open to providing these courses in-house to a single company, alongside the open courses available to all. This area of the website will expand as we develop education and training initiatives, and will be updated regularly to include updates on courses offered, content and benefits, course fees, country locations and availability of places.

We have delivered or are developing in-house member courses in the following areas:

- Analytical skills for managers working in global new vehicle sales
- Strategies and skills for managers working in new vehicle supply
- Network innovation and improvement for managers working in aftersales
- An overview of automotive distribution for managers working in the franchised and independent aftersales sector

All the above are classroom based, two day courses, interspersed with assignment based assessment.

We are interested in tailoring and developing more skills and insight based courses in response to member interest and requirements. Contact Ben Waller on
