September 2022 What can aftersales operators do to protect themselves from decreasing parts sales, revenues and gross margins?
Over the next decade, a series of factors will influence the future automotive spare parts market in Europe, resulting in more pressures for the various stakeholders on parts revenues and margins. Most of these will impact the car parts market negatively, such as the electrification of car parcs, better reliability of vehicles, the general trend towards a more ‘rational’ car usage (i.e. lower mileage per annum) and the growth of re-used parts etc. However, some of these factors may also have a positive influence, like the higher price of parts due to technological advancements, or the growth of ‘Over the Air’ updates (or ‘virtual’ parts…).
In this webinar, we analysed the approaches and strategies in place amongst the spare parts stakeholders to enable them to cope with these future trends. As time goes on, the focus will be on the different entities throughout the spare parts supply chain: OESs, OEMs, OEM franchised repairers, independent parts distributors and the IAM service providers - independent repairers and chains.
The last section of the webinar we also detailed the results of a dedicated simulation model which has been built to assess, quantitatively, the potential of the different levers that OEM franchised distributors and groups can use to compensate for the possible future decline of their parts business.
