As the industry emerges from the shortage-driven record profits of the last couple years, the next few years look much tougher for both manufacturers and dealers. We need to navigate the challenges of delivering a minimum BEV mix from a wary retail customer base. We need to deliver seamless omni-channel, but are doing so against a backdrop of faltering agency implementations and imposed changes in franchised contracts, with legacy IT that is not fit for purpose. New entrant manufacturers are benefiting from scale that delivers a lower cost base and the ability to compete aggressively in a market that is struggling with economic uncertainty. Established manufacturers are stretched trying to adapt their businesses ‘on the go’, pivoting from products defined by mechanical hardpoints to products defined by software. These and other challenges need to be overcome by both manufacturers and dealers, but we see few signs of the real collaboration that would make the journey less hazardous, and potentially faster. In this webinar, we pulled together research from a number of our workstreams to map out the challenges and highlight how a shared approach would ease the transition.
