September 2020 The impact of BEVs on dealers' crash repair business Webinar

The growth of electric vehicles across Europe over the past years has been rapid, with more than 400,000 plug-in vehicles sold in the European Union in 2019, and despite recent events the forecast growth of BEVs going forward is still expected to be significant. Ultimately, over the coming years electric vehicles are going to affect the whole of the automotive value chain in potentially negative ways, so we all need to be prepared.

In this webinar, we looked at the impact of EVs on the automotive value chain, and took another look at how they impact the aftersales business of dealers, this time more specifically how they affect bodyshops.

We have previously looked at the impact BEVs will have on the crash repair market as a whole, tackling topics such as how accident rates for BEVs differ from ICEs, and the additional issues they can cause body repairers in having to deal with high-voltage, and BEV-specific, technology.

We continued to build on this work in the webinar, through a combination of modelling and qualitative assessment of the impact, we studied the threats posed and opportunities presented to bodyshops by BEVs, and what this meant for bodyshops, and the industry as a whole, over the coming years.
