June 2024 Research topics update webinar

This webinar took place on 4th June.and we brought you another series of updates from across our research streams, picking up some interesting topics that have either emerged during recent work, or which will feature in our forthcoming activities.

  • As part of the research for our forthcoming 'Car buyer of the future' report, we have produced a short retrospective looking at how consumer attitudes towards car buying have changed over the past two decades, and how this then feeds into how car buyers of the future are expected to behave

  • We will introduce our new 'playbook' focusing on how the sector can overcome the challenges and obstacles to implementing an omni-channel retail strategy

  • Following our look at the fortunes and prospects for the Chinese new entrant brands at the Spring Meeting in Berlin, and with interim measures that may include additional import tariffs due to be announced, we will give an update on the European Commission's ongoing anti-subsidy investigation.

  • As part of our monitoring of the global competition policy environment, we reported last year on the outcome of the Australian court case involving Mercedes-Benz and its dealers over their contract change from franchise to agency.  As the case was concluding, a review  was just getting underway – we will take a look at the outcome of the recent review of the Australian Franchising Code, and at how the regulatory approach there compares with other regions of the world.

The slides can be downloaded below, speaking notes are included. There is also a video recording of the entire webinar or broken down into the four segments
